Scaling:
This event was a premiere for the down-and-back-style chipper at the 2012 CrossFit Games and included several unique features, such as the fat bar for thrusters and the requirement to complete a burpee between muscle-up reps. Rich Froning Jr. handily completed the event in 7:06, while Julie Foucher put up the fastest women's time of 7:43.

For most, this is a moderate-duration pyramid-style chipper. Adjust the loading for each barbell to allow you to finish the 10 reps in 2 sets or less. As for the burpee muscle-ups, choose a variation that allows you to complete all 10 reps in 3 minutes or less (e.g., lower the rings so you can perform a jumping muscle-up, burpee chest-to-ring pull-up, burpee chin-over-ring pull-up, or burpee ring row).

Coaching cues:
To maximize efficiency in the box jump-over, think about jumping high, landing softly on the box, turning around, and stepping down backward before jumping immediately up into the next rep.

During the HWPO guest programming a daily “stimulus or goal” was added to the lesson plan. Please consider adding a daily stimulus for the online athletes to attempt to obtain. Most brink and mortar affiliates have a daily goal for the athletes to reach, whether scaling or not.

5 reps in the second set of thrusters. 15:00 cap used 135# for thrusters, overhead squats and squat cleans. I used a 20.5 in cooler for box jump overs, I jumped over it every time. The burpee muscle ups the rings were low enough that I could touch the floor when I was hanging from the bottom.

Globo wod: This workout contains multiple elements, so some substitutions and order changes will likely be needed if you're performing this in a regular gym. Dumbbells sub OHS 5 right and 5 left with one 40/60lb dumbbell, thrusters 35/50lb dumbbells, power cleans 50/75lb dumbbells. Dumbbell overhead squats are quite difficult so warm up well and scale to maintain form. If rings aren't available sub 13 burpee bar muscleups or 20 burpee chest to bar pullups. Box jump overs can be subbed with bench jump overs or jumps over an appropriately high object. If you have only one barbell or space concerns do 8 thrusters and 16 power cleans at 105/155 lbs where the movement is indicated.


Intermediate db subs ohs one 35/45 lb dumbbell, 5 reps right 5 reps left, thrusters 25/35lb dumbbells, cleans 35/50lb dumbbells
